Don't Dream It's Over

Highlights from the last 24 hours:
I made salt and vinegar chickpeas. I should have left them in the oven a liiiittle longer to crisp up, but they came out pretty well. I also realized that my voicemail has been a quote from a Jake and Amir video for who knows how long.

It's a miracle I've become employed.

I just chose my classes for next fall (first semester senior year), finals are next week, and most of my friends will be graduating or heading home the week after that. I'll be staying here in Ithaca all summer, which I'm both excited and apprehensive about. I haven't been at my childhood home for more than a few days since December, and I keep thinking about how little of 'childhood' I have left, if I can even still be considered anything less than an adult at this point. Do adults look despairingly at their real life bank accounts and then take solace in having 8 million neopoints?

Salad Days

I am sitting on my bed next to my open window, listening to spring peepers and watching the full moon appear brighter as twilight turns to night. Today was 80 degrees, and tomorrow is supposed to be just as beautiful. I got a summer job as an office assistant at my college last week, and every time I remember that I'm staying in Ithaca this summer I can't help but smile.
Max and I biked to Buttermilk Falls state park yesterday. We ate pb&j's looking out over the turquoise water, and played baseball with sticks and pinecones. The walls of the gorges were covered in a layer of ice that was melting into the water, so it was too cold to swim, but we waded in anyway. We ended our trip with smoothies at Dolce Delight, a little bakery across the street from the Circle Apartments where we live.

Later, a few of my friends and I had tickets to see Seth Meyers perform stand-up at our school's gigantic athletic center. We laughed our asses off for a few hours, then came home and watched a few episodes of a show called "Sex Sent Me to the ER" and laughed some more. It was a wonderful day with friends and a boy who I love. :)
There are times when I would pay up for a cochlear implant that would render me unable to hear country music, but tonight, the sound of it from downstairs is nice. I am grateful for this time in my life.

Onion Soup

Being in my third year of college and my fifth year living away from home, I don't cook for myself as often as I think I should. I mean, besides peeling the film off of pre made pasta and sticking it in the microwave. I want 2014 to be a year of self-improvement where I teach myself some of the skills necessary to consider oneself an adult, and of my goals is to learn how to cook and experiment with new recipes. Gotta start somewhere :)
Today, Max and I made french onion soup! We used this recipe, minus the thyme. The process went souper, other than burning our first round of baguette slices in the oven... we somehow didn't set off the fire alarm, so all was well.

It was so delicious :) We curled up on the couch afterwards and watched The Parent Trap. Nothing like some old-school Lindsay Lohan and homemade soup on a windy Saturday!

Tiny Dots On An Endless Timeline

Hi there! My name is Katherine McVeigh, but I've gone by Kt since I was a kid. I've had a Wordpress in the past, but I'm transitioning here for my future work.

I'm going to be blogging as often as possible, and uploading projects onto Youtube and Lookbook throughout. Here is my first project :)

I ended April 1st on a lovely note, sitting on the patio behind my apartment with my boyfriend Max. I will never become jaded with Ithaca sunsets.

Check back daily to see what I'm up to this month, I'll be working my butt off to finish as many projects as possible and I have a lot of fun ideas I can't wait to execute! I'll probably be writing more than this in the future, I'm just eager to get this up.
yeyyyy
